GAME FAQ

Hopefully this FAQ will answer a lot of the same questions going around at the moment. There is no particular order to the questions, though I have tried to list them in order of frequency asked & relevance to new players.

Please note that this is a Beta version of the game, as such it has some bugs. This FAQ does not address bug related issues. All details of the FAQ are correct to the best of the authors knowledge.

How do I become an almighty powerful Gladiator?
You need to train and buy some good weapons and armor. Both of these will cost gold, the more you train the more you will need to spend. The better weapons and armor also cost a lot. Money is the key.

To become top of the ranks will take effort and determination. There are 2 systems of ranks in Gladiatus. The Highscore and the Arena ranks. Your rank in both of these is shown at the top just to the left of centre of the screen at all times.

The Highscore rank is based upon your Honor score.
The Arena rank changes as you win battles with the people above you in the arena.

How do I gain honor / experience / gold?
To gain honor / experience / gold there are 5 ways.

* Work in the stable
* Battle in the arena
* Complete a quest
* Complete and expedition
* Sell items on the market

Work in the stable
This is an ideal way to make money while you sleep or can't play. Just send your character to work in the stable for 1 - 8 hours. The amount of gold that you will earn will depend on your level (listed under your honor score), the higher your level the more gold you earn per hour. If you work in the stable for a long time you will also gain some experience points.

(Note: if you cancel working in the stable you do NOT get any gold or experience)

Battle in the arena
This is probably the worst way to make money. Each battle you win will often result in you capturing some of your enemies gold. A lot of the time this will be between 5-20 gold. The capture is between 10-15% of the total gold of the enemy. If you battle an enemy who is a higher level you will also gain a small amount of experience.

Complete a quest
This is the most profitable way to gain gold and very good for gaining experience points. Visit the tavern and you will be able to start a quest. There are a number of different kinds of quests, some will require you to use expedition points to go on an expedition and find an item, or kill an enemy. Once you have achieved the goal set out, return to the tavern, or where ever the quest ends (this can be found out in the tavern), you will be rewarded with experience points, honor, gold and sometimes an item.

Complete and expedition
Another way to gain lots of gold and experience is to fight enemies while on an expedition. Clicking the small map (in the shape of southern Italy) on menu screen on the left, will allow you to select a place to go on expedition. There are 3 expedition lengths, they cost 2, 4 and 6 points each, and last 10, 20 and 30 minutes respectively. For premium users the cost and length of time are halved.
Once you win you will gain gold, experience, honor and sometimes an item dropped by the enemy.

(Note: Loosing an expedition battle will result in you gaining a small amount of experience only)

Sell items on the market
When completing an expedition you will sometimes win a dropped item from the enemy. Your choice is to equip the item and sell your old one (if the new one is better than what you currently own), or, sell the item. Selling items can gain you a lump sum of gold. But beware, price the item to high and people will not buy.

You can also sell item back to the shops, though this will gain you substantially less gold.

Gold / Skills
Once you have your gold you can then spend it on better weapons and armor, bought from a shop, market place or auction house.
You are also able to spend you gold on training. Clicking the "Training" link on the menu system will take you to visit the trainer. For a sum of gold he will teach you the next level of any given skill. Each skill of your character affects the performance in battle, making you a stronger gladiator. Hover your mouse over each skill and you will see the affects that it will have on your character.

Honor
Gaining honor has no "practical" use, but it will increase your ranks in the Highscores. If you are part of a guild it will also be added to the guild score.

Experience
Additional experience is added to your total experience. Upon reaching a set amount of experience you will pass to the next level (listed under your honor score).
To see the current total experience click the overview, it will be listed underneath the character picture, it is the only yellow bar. Hovering your mouse over this will show you how much you have, and what the goal to reach the next level is.

How do I find x item to complete a quest?
Often when given a quest you will be asked to find an item. When this happens you need to asses if the item is a special item, or just a weapon or piece of armor, or sometimes a ring or food item.
Examples of special items are:

* Stolen casket
* Long fingers of bandit

Examples of normal items are:

* Copper shoulders
* Iron guard

Examples of food item are:

* Fish
* Apple

To find the "special" items you need to know where to find them, Bandit fingers come from a Bandit, so you need to win a battle against a Bandit, stolen caskets can also be won from Bandits.

Normal and food items can be won from any enemy if you win.

To find each item you need to win against the enemy, but the enemy will not always drop the item that you want on the 1st win. (With food it makes more sense to buy it from a shop)

How do I find x character to kill?
If you are asked to kill a certain number of enemy characters you will need to find them. Naturally the best place to look would be the one most associated with the character. Below is a small list of who you will find where.

(Note: all characters can be found in more than 1 place)

Mist Mountains - Harpy
Dark Woods - Wolf
Barbarian Village - Barbarian
Bandit Camp - Bandit
Ancient Temple - Guard
Pirate Harbor - Pirate
Wolf Cave - Wolf

*Deserters are found in all locations, but possibly more often in the Barbarian Village.

I won my quest and got the item, but I can't find it!
Once you have won a quest and the battle report says you have won an item it will automatically be placed into a package for you to collect.
Look at the top left of the screen above the overview link, you should see a small icon. Click on it and you will be taken to the packages menu, drag the item from the package to your inventory. When collected you can either equip the item if it is not a quest item, or hand it to the relevant person to complete a quest.

To hand over an item visit the relevant person. If you have the correct item you will see the other characters inventory and your own. Just drag the item to their inventory and the quest will be complete and you will be rewarded.

For more information on quests please visit the sticky thread in Help and Questions forum on the board.

How do I increase my Arena rank?
When you visit the arena, by clicking the link in the menu, you will see 2 lists of 5 players. On the left are the top 5 and the list on the right are the 5 people above you in rank that you can attack. To rise in the ranks in the arena you need to defeat the people above you who are listed in the "own placing" table. Clicking the image of the 2 men fighting to the right of the names will let you battle them. If you win you will take their rank.

While you are ranked low, the gap between your rank and the highest rank that you can attack to gain ranks is large, the higher ranked you become the smaller the gap becomes.

How often are expedition points added?
Expedition points are added at the rate of 1 each hour regardless of whether you have Premium or not.

What are "green" items?
These are items whose name is colored green. They are special items that can be bought with a combination of rubies and gold from the shops, or for just gold later in the game.
They are items that sometime, but not always, have at least 1 special attribute. For example, green weapons will often have a substantially higher attack power and bonuses to strength. Many of these items have bonuses, but beware, some also have penalties for using them, such as reducing a certain skill.
They are generally start to appear once you reach level 5/6 and become more common the higher level you become.

What are "purple" items?
See above description, but more powerful and only available at higher levels.
